Introduction

To support the increasing market demand for higher bandwidth in OpenVPX/SOSA systems driven by high-resolution multi-spectral sensor fusion, real-time edge-AI inference, and cognitive electronic warfare—Comtel introduces its next generation of VPX 3U High Speed Signal Integrity Test Card.

Based on COMTEL’s Air-/-Plane 56TM technology these 3U VPX cards are designed validate the latest high speed Ethernet protocols defined in the IEEE Std 802.3cd (50GBASE-KR, 100GBASE-KR2, and 200GBASE-KR4).

The cards design is optimised with a small differential impedance mismatch from the cable SMA interface to the Multi Gig RT3 connector (<10%). The characteristics such as insertion loss, return loss, crosstalk, etc. can be measured with an external Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) with 4 ports or similar equipment (capability up to 40 GHz is recommended)

  • High density compress mount interface to bring high speed links out of the card to external measurement equipment
  • Test card including high speed cable adapter fits into a single 0.8″ slot of a VPX backplane
  • Integrated loopback link to allow for de-embedding
